The Salvation Army Singapore has been a beacon of hope and support for communities in need since 1935. With a strong legacy of serving the community, they provide a wide range of social programs, family support, and essential services that make them a trusted choice for charitable giving.

When you donate to the Salvation Army, you’re not just giving away items—you’re making a real difference. Your generous contributions of clothing, household goods, furniture, and electronics help individuals and families facing hardship, provide shelter to the homeless, and support vital community initiatives. Each item you donate has the power to transform lives, offering hope and dignity to those who need it most.

How does your donation to The Salvation Army Singapore help?

Donating to The Salvation Army Singapore isn’t just about clearing out your closet—it’s about helping people in need get back on their feet. Your contributions provide real support for kids, families, seniors, and migrant workers. From school supplies and warm meals to fresh clothes and comfy bedding, every little bit helps.

Some donated items go straight to those who need them most—like families starting over or kids who need a good night’s sleep. Other items find new homes through their Family Stores, and the funds raised go right back into community programs for things like education, shelter, and even support for ex-offenders.

So, whether it’s an old jacket, a piece of furniture, or that extra blender you never use, your donation makes life brighter for someone else. It’s an easy way to do good and spread kindness.

Donation guidelines.

Disposing of unsaleable items costs them a lot each year, so they kindly ask that you only donate items in good condition. If something is broken, damaged, ripped, stained, faded, cracked, or faulty, it’s best to keep it out of your donation. A good rule of thumb: if you wouldn’t use it yourself, we probably can’t sell or reuse it.

Here’s a quick list of items they can’t accept:

  • Religious materials
  • Encyclopedias
  • School textbooks or assignment books
  • Food or medicine
  • Furniture over 5 feet tall or made of chipboard, compressed wood, plywood, or custom designs

The Difference You Make With Your Donations

When you donate, you’re doing more than clearing space—you’re helping families in need, providing essentials for children and youth, and supporting migrant workers with basic necessities.

Some items go directly to those in need, while others are sold to fund programs for kids, the elderly, migrant workers, and ex-offenders. It’s a ripple effect of kindness!

Plus, donating helps the planet by giving your pre-loved items a second life and reducing waste.

No matter the size, your donations can make a big impact—changing lives and supporting sustainability while you declutter. Donate today with The Salvation Army Singapore and be the difference!

Do you accept bulky items and furniture?

Yes, we do accept bulky items and furniture.

Our staff will perform a ‘View and Collect’ of your items before we collect. The general condition of the items would determine the viability of collection as it will be retailed, hence only items in ‘Still Good’ condition will be received.

How do I donate?

For donation of small items, kindly deposit your goods at our donation booths.

Please ensure that you place your donation within the donation booth to ensure that your donation reach those it is intended for. Leaving it outside of the premise will result in a hazard and wet weather can also damage the donations, resulting in us having to dispose of them.

*Please do not drop off bulky items and furniture at the donation booths due to safety and space constraints.

How often are the donation booths cleared?

Most of the donation booths are cleared on a daily basis.

What happens to the donated goods and how does it benefit the community?

The donated goods do go to our beneficiaries. From families who are in the greatest need, the children and youth residents who require new bedding to get a restful night’s sleep, to our migrant workers who need the basic essentials such as clothing items, these are the people who are on the receiving end of your generosity, and we’ll continue to be the intermediary/platform for the public to do good.

To give an even wider spectrum of flexibility, we do mark goods for sale to realise their value which would then go on to fund social initiatives and programmes for the children and youth group, the elderly, our migrant workers, and ex-offenders.

Do you do refurbishment or repair works on donated items?

As we do not have mending stations, we are unable to perform repairs; therefore, it is better for donors to find suitable means of removal.

What happens to the donated items that do not pass the criteria to be sold at your stores?

A portion of the donated items are put aside for our beneficiaries and humanitarian aid, whilst those items that do not pass the criteria, will be packed for wholesale trading.
